Most of the water systems you are fishing in Thailand are man-made and fully stocked with loads of different species of fish. If you want to get up close and personal with some of the biggest and rarest freshwater fish in the world, Thailand is the place to go.
The fishing caters for the traveling anglers who want to catch some of Thailand’s massive fresh water fish: there are lots of fishing parks where the local guides will bait, hook and even wind your fish in if so desired, so having people from New Zealand who want to do everything was very foreign to them! But we got there in the end and caught some very cool fish.
If you plan on heading to Thailand, take the fishery for what it is and don’t expect anything like we have here at home. It is very different but still worth the trip. The wildlife in Thailand is something else, with massive bugs, lizards and snakes around every corner.
We are looking forward to re-visit Thailand in the future as there are a lot more strange creatures lurking in rivers and lakes.
If you would like to have a go at Thailand’s fish species, contact Jules at He will take care of your whole trip, not just the fishing, and it’s worth doing, as getting around Thailand can be a nightmare. Take a look, it’s a pretty cool and cheap holiday.
